NovaTec Network Multiplexer – NNM
The NovaTec Network Multiplexer NNM enables up to 256 B-channels with max. 6 primary rate interfaces (PRI/ISDN 30) to be split between several basic and primary rate (BRI, U or PRI) interfaces and NovaTec SIP Gateway. By using CCU6 it will be possible to use up to 512 B-channels. This means pure ISDN or analog connections only.
Following ISDN interfaces are available:
- S0 interfaces for the connection of ISDN end devices or ISDN trunks
- PRI interfaces, e.g. to transfer unneeded B channels to a linked PABX
- U-interfaces in order to connect ISDN end devices with U interfaces to bridge long distances via copper wire.
- Conversion of existing S0 interfaces into U interfaces for networking of ISDN terminals over long distances.
- Analogue interfaces for the connection of analogue end devices
The NovaTec Network Multiplexer offers extensive configuration possibilities including:
- Allocating the B channels to all the interfaces listed above
- Preventing internal connections to be made with external connections
- Allows the setting of restrictions on the number of B channels on the respective BRI or U interfaces.
Using NovaTecs’ multiplexer and demultiplexer solutions for network and internet providers, individual client-side connection configurations may be developed from 2 Mbit/s data streams for permanent or dialled connections or a mixture of both.
Nearly every conceivable configuration may be achieved because of the modular construction and the high configurability of the device.
Every system in this series features a central processor. They may be equipped with PRI/ISDN 30, S0, Uk0 or analog interfaces and may be maintained remotely via IP or locally via a USB interface (V.24 in case of CCU3).
Possible users:
- Network Providers
- Middle or larger size companies
Operational applications:
- For connections of several ISDN 2 (BRI) devices, or from one server via an PRI/ISDN 30 interface to another server
- For multiple users in one building
- For the connection of fax servers, call centers, voice servers, etc.
- As a middle-box to solve compatibility problems on the ISDN level between two devices
- Broadband access divible into required narrowband connections

The individual systems NNM S5+, S6, S20 differ by the number of modules and thus the number of interfaces. All systems have the following features:
- IP access for service, maintenance and diagnostics
- NAMES can be used on all systems.
- Easy to install and to put into operation
- Modular construction concept, thereby individually profiling and changeable
- Future-proofed due to modular design concept, e. g. by using newly developed interfaces and networks.
