Status reports of Wind generators

                  Windgeneratoren

The problem

In times when the meaning of alternative energy sources increases more and more, wind generators become more important. Usually these wind parks consist of a field of generators, which are spread over a very large area.

In case of a fault the head of the generators turns out of the wind direction automatically and the rotor blades are also turned thís way, so that the rotor is blocked and cannot rotate.

Normally wind generators are running as stand alone equipments, i. e., there is no service personal on site. As a result of this,  the status of the generators must be requestable from a remote service centre with the ability to react in any case of faults.

For this purpose the wind parks are connected with the public telephone network to allow the operating company to request the status.

Due to the fact that the wind generators are spread over a wide area,  the connections between the generators and the network hub mean that long distances have to be bridged.

The ISDN-BRI-Interface allows a distance of up to 1000 m, which is often not enough for the distances concerned with a wind park.

The solution

The use of the PT-SU and the PT-US allows the range extension of the ISDN-BRI-Interface up to 8 km by using a twisted pair copper wire. If more than 4 ISDN-BRI-Interfaces have to be extended, we recommend the use of the PTI and the PT-US .

The realisation

Windparks usually have a central power house, where also the feeding into the public electricity network takes place. In this power house an ISDN-PABX is installed which provides the required numbers of ISDN-BRI  -Interfaces. These are connected via a  PT-SU and a PT-US with the concerned wind generator  where they are connected to the control system. There every single generator can be reached by telephone and there is no need for expensive cabling or even an own exchange line.
