Networking of mulifunctional terminals in Hannover |

At the underground and tram stops in Hannover multifunctional terminals have been installed. By pressing a button you can set up a voice connection with the Underground service centre or, in an emergency, with the control centre of the fire department and rescue service. These terminals are equipped with an ISDN-S0 -Interface.
Due to the fact that the underground and tram network covers the city area of Hannover as well as the suburban regions, for the networking of these terminals distances of several kilometres have to be bridged.
The use of the Private Terminator Integrated PTI at the network hubs and the PT-US in the terminals allow to bridge a distance up to 8 km by using a twisted pair copper wire.
Through this the costs for the network infrastructure could be reduced drastically and several terminals could be connected with one network hub.
